ITC Hotels announced on May 15 that it has entered into definitive agreements to acquire the Zuri Kumarakom Resort & Spa in Kerala for an enterprise value of Rs 205 crore. This acquisition marks the hospitality giant’s first owned resort in the state, signaling a strategic pivot toward capturing the high-growth leisure travel market in southern India.

Expanding the Luxury Portfolio

The acquisition involves a 100 percent stake in Zuri Hotels & Resorts Private Limited (ZHRPL), the entity that currently owns the 18-acre property. Situated on the banks of Vembanad Lake, the resort features 72 keys, including 38 villas and cottages, alongside extensive wellness facilities that occupy nearly 20,000 square feet.

For ITC Hotels, this purchase represents more than just a real estate transaction; it is a calculated effort to solidify its presence in premium leisure destinations. Anil Chadha, Managing Director of ITC Hotels, described the move as a cornerstone in the company’s expansion strategy, aiming to merge the resort’s prime location with ITC’s established reputation for culinary excellence and wellness.
